(More customer reviews)Update:
Dorcy is hanging onto the old Luxeon I and III LEDs for many of their old models (such as this one with a Luxeon I).These are old LEDs which are not as efficient as some of the newest stuff.
This still isn't a bad flashlight, but I would look at some of the newer low-price models from Fenix, Streamlight, or Leatherman. You can find much brighter flashlights, or flashlights with the same brightness running on smaller/cheaper batteries for longer.Original Review from 2007:
--------------------------
This is a great little flashlight to carry or keep in the car.It has a good LED (Luxeon 1 watt), a good power regulator to keep it at maximum brightness for most of the battery life, and a quality finish on the aluminum body.
The only drawback is the battery. But it isn't too much of a drawback. With 1-watt or higher power, lithium batteries are actually about as cheap as alkaline when the power capacity is considered and you find them for a good price.Lithium batteries also have a long shelf life (usually over 10 years), so keep an eye out for anyone selling them less than 2 dollars each and keep a couple spares.
If you really don't want to think about batteries, look for a 1 watt River Rock at Target. It isn't as nice looking as the Dorcy (or maybe it is, if you like it), but it uses one AA instead.
