(More customer reviews)I have been checking out coolers at local stores and am in search for personal-sized coolers that can keep items ice cold the longest and which have excellent build quality.The Coleman Excursion (9 qt) is a cooler that I had for about a year.

This Coleman Excursion (9 qt) was tested using pre-chilled drinks and packed with cubed ice.When testing coolers, I leave the cooler in a room, the average temperature highs are usually around 90F, and the coolers are opened about every 4 hours to see how the ice is holding up and to resemble periodic use.

This cooler has kept items ice cold for approximately 24 hours.This is second out of five personal sized coolers that I have tested.First being the Igloo MaxCold 24 which was tested once while having less than half of the cooler packed (36 hours).Others tested were the Rubbermaid 20 qt Ice Chest (approximately 10 hours), Coleman Flip Top 5 qt (approximately 8 hours), and a Rubbermaid 5 qt cooler (approximately 6 hours).

The Coleman Excursion 9 qt appears to be made really well.The lid appears to be aligned very well with the body of the cooler and has a snug fit that locks in place nicely when closed, which will be helpful in locking in the cold.The cooler appears durable, as opposed to the Rubbermaid 20 in which the lid broke off during the first use.

Overall, the Coleman Excursion 9 qt is an excellent cooler and I would rate the build of the cooler at the top of the personal coolers.4.8 out of 5.0 as I would have put more value into the cooler should it have kept things ice cold a little longer, though I am mindful that this cooler is only made to carry 6 cans and a couple of sandwiches.
