(More customer reviews)I live in an area where storms not infrequently cause power outages, so I keep it at my bedside.This little lantern can easily be carried around and provides more than enough light to see with.I would guess it provides about as much light as a 15 watt incandescent bulb would.The LED light is fairly harsh (conpared to an incandescent bulb) as LEDs tend to be, but that is just an observation, not a criticism.The back is shielded so you don't get light shining in your face.It also makes sure that all the light is focused forward.The strob setting is of no use in the house, but I can see where it would be very useful if your car was stranded on the side of a road.With its relatively compact size and ease of use, this lantern is extremely versatile.

The Coleman 3AA MicroPacker LED Lantern sheds a bright light for use around the campsite, inside a tent or to flood a small area with illumination. Lightweight and portable, the MicroPacker lantern measures a little more than 6 inches tall by 2 inches wide -- small enough to hold and use in one hand. A simple click of the easy push-button control selects one of three settings: High, Low and Emergency. It will run up to 14 hours on low or 8 hours on high with 3 AA batteries (included). The emergency strobe will flash for up to 75 hours. The MicroPacker's bright, long-lasting Cree Xlamp XR-E LED produces 80 lumens of illumination and features a conical reflector for 360 degrees of even distribution of light. Or just lift up a reflector panel on the back to help light the path and shield the eyes. Weighing in at only 7 ounces, the lantern is weather-resistant and can be placed upright or hung. The included holder will suction to any surface, so you can easily attach it at the campsite while setting up, or on your vehicle while changing a tire or signaling for help.
